Hi! My name is Elizabeth, I was born in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico. I arrived in the US at 11 years old. My Dad was born in Mexico and had Spanish and Jewish descendants. My Mom was born in Pasadena, she had Norwegian parents that came in a ship from Oslo, Norway.

My parents had 4 children; I was the middle child. Growing up in Mexico was kind of hard because all of our family was very white with blue eyes. My Dad was a kind, generous, intelligent man, he had a PhD in chemistry, and he helped people a lot. My mom was kind of overwhelmed in a foreign country with 4 kids. My parents knew Jesus, but we didn't go to church till I was 14, I was invited by a friend from school. Then when I was 16 my older sister's boyfriend attended church, so we would go to church here and there.

I went through some rough times throughout my teenage years. I got married at 1 8, and I got pregnant at 19 with my first son. This marriage wasn’t a Christ centered marriage and it didn’t work; it was filled with parties and no Jesus. We divorced after 15 years, and I found myself as a single Mom. I was very blessed to start my own licensed Childcare business in July 2003. In this I got to be with my kids, which was something I always wanted. I had an older sister who unfortunately passed at 35 from alcohol poisoning, it was a very sad time. My sister was very smart, she had a good job, went to college and was known for her big, beautiful smile. 5 years later in August 2008 my dad suddenly passed also. My Dad was very kind, and we would talk to each other a lot, he was trying to be a dad to my children. He was concerned of me being alone.

By this time, I was literally drowning in sadness, I always managed to keep a smile, but the world only offered me temporary fixes. I was very sad about the passing of both my sister and dad. I was in a downward spiral I couldn't control, I was a single Mom at the time, raising my 2 children and sharing my niece with her dad in Vegas. It was only up to me to raise the kids and help raise my niece.

Then there is Jesus. I’m very happy I was invited to CCA in October of 2008 by one of my daughter’s friends from school. I knew I didn't want to go to just any church. Former Pastor, pastor Rick Skelton was teaching at that time. Through Pastor Rick Skelton, I learned to have a personal relationship with Christ and not to rely on anything in this world, but Christ. Showing up to church consistently continued to mold me and helped me grow in my relationship with Jesus more and more. As my faith grew, I became more involved and began being busy for the kingdom. In 2009, I became part of the street witnessing ministry. Then, in 2011, I joined the children’s ministry. I also attended women’s prayer, served in the meals ministry, and sang for the convalescent ministry.

I just feel I was truly protected and blessed all my life by Jesus. When no one cares, Jesus does. People will let you down, just keep your eyes on Jesus and don’t get sidetracked with everyone's shows, it will all be ok!!

One of the biggest blessings, was something I actually wasn't boking for, a husband! Robert, at the time, was going to Calvary High Desert. He was serving happy there, but one day he just felt the Lord calling him to Calvary Adelanto. After 10 years of being single, I saw Robert and thought to myself “that's going to be your husband”. Robert had also been single for 10 years. After a lot of praying and getting to know each other, the Lord showed me he was perfect for me, not perfect, but perfect for me. We got married here at Calvary Chapel Adelanto in October 2015 by Pastor Rick Skelton. God truly blessed me with a God loving man. He genuinely puts others before himself, always makes sure I’m okay, and is incredibly talented at fixing literally everything! I am truly blessed.

Today, we serve together at church, and it feels like having your best friend by your side to share life with. Life happens, and there will always be challenges, but with Jesus, it’s okay. He guides us, comforts us, and protects us through it all. I am so grateful for the life and the blessings God has given me.

Proverbs 3:5-6 ( nkjv) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
