Assistant Pastor
Sam Garcia
Born in L.A and raised in a Christian home, I gave my life to the Lord when I was around 14. After graduating from high school, I joined the Army at 17. There. I fell away from the faith. Began drinking. partying, and living like a loose cannon. Looking back, the Lord's hand has always been at work in my life. After 8 years of serving, (active, inactive and reserve), deployments, different duty stations and seeing the world, I came back home.
I got my class A license and began to work as a local truck driver to take care of my growing family At this point. I was not married but living with my girlfriend and two kids. One evening, as I listened to one of Greg Laurie's messages. the Lord convicted me as I was driving. I pulled over and rededicated my life to Christ. I began looking for a Bible believing, Bible teaching church, and the Lord brought me to Calvary Chapel Adelanto. My girlfriend and I got married and I began to attend church regularly. Our church was still growing, so we would meet in a house on Wednesdays and school cafeterias on Sunday mornings. Soon, the Lord brought us to the building we're in today, and led me to serve in the children's ministry. During this time, my marriage began to fall apart as we were unequally yoked together. I stopped serving, and we sadly ended up divorcing. I began backsliding. I was never comfortable in that state and the Lord continued to surround me with believers who would share God's word with me.
Around three years went by and my daughter asked me when we were going to go back to church! My son and daughter were growing and I wasn't being a good witness to them. This deeply convicted me and I finally listened to the Lord as He brought me back to Him. I realized that I never wanted to go back to the world. so I asked Lord to show me His will for me. This time, He called me to serve as an usher and then on the worship team.
He continues to use me in ways I never imagined could be used in. It is the word of God that changes us. The Lord is molding me with each passing day and in every situation. I am honored to give the word of God in our Sunday Spanish service and to our young adults on a monthly basis. Here are a few Bible verses that minister to me:
"He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Psalms 23:3
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God. a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.' 2 Timothy 3:16, 17
