From early in life, “how come” and “why” have always been the questions I would want answered. These questions were never satisfactorily answered until I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. The scripture of the Bible started to clearly make sense. I've known about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit since I was a young kid, attendance being required on a regular basis mainly because I was instructed to do so. Attending church was never associated with punishment; in fact, I always viewed church as a safe environment compared to the environment outside or away from church. A personal relationship was never mentioned or maintained outside of praying for forgiveness for things or wrongs that had already taken place. The real and true meaning of giving your life to the Lord didn't have a real meaning until I found myself in a lost and hopeless spiritual situation, with nowhere to turn for help but to God. Man, money, or muscle couldn't help me.
I still have struggles and problems, but I've discovered through the scriptures and like-minded godly fellowship how to address and overcome ungodly concerns. After all these years, I can't say I'm happy or satisfied with my relationship with the Lord, but I'm at peace knowing that I still put forth the effort to improve my spiritual relationship with Him. And in doing so, the rest of me—the mental and physical—will improve also. God has shown me that when it comes to perfection, you can seek and desire it, but you can't achieve it, and that's alright because you aren't expected to. You're only requested to work toward it.
